Uncertain block replacement policy with no replacement at failure
نویسندگان
چکیده
The block replacement policy with no replacement at failure means that a unit is always replaced at fixed time, but not replaced at failure. In this paper, the lifetime of the unit is assumed to be an uncertain variable, the model of expected cost per unit time following no replacement at failure policy is proposed, and the existence condition of the optimal replacement time is given. Furthermore, the optimal block replacement policy of a system consisting of multiple units which operate independently of each other is discussed. At last, a numerical example on the maintenance management of spare parts in civil aviation is provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed model.

Block replacement policy with uncertain lifetimes
Block replacement policy is a type of preventive replacement policies where the units are always replaced at failure or at a scheduled time periodically. Assuming the lifetimes of the units are uncertain variables, this paper studies the block replacement policy in an uncertain environment. To deal with the different constraints a decision maker may face, three different criterions are used to ...
متن کاملAGE REPLACEMENT POLICY IN UNCERTAIN ENVIRONMENT
Age replacement policy is concerned with finding an optional time tominimize the cost, at which time the unit is replaced even if itdoes not fail. So far, age replacement policy involving random agehas been proposed. This paper will assume the age of the unit is anuncertain variable, and find the optimal time to replace the unit.
متن کاملAn Improvement in WRP Block Replacement Policy with Reviewing and Solving its Problems
One of the most important items for better file system performance is efficient buffering of disk blocks in main memory. Efficient buffering helps to reduce the widespeed gap between main memory and hard disks. In this buffering system, the block replacement policy is one of the most important design decisions that determines which disk block should be replaced when the buffer is full. To o...

متن کاملThe optimal age-based replacement policy for systems subject to shocks
In this article, two different systems subject to shocks occurring based on a non-homogeneous Poisson process (NHPP) are analyzed. Type –I system is consisted of a single unit and type –II system is consisted of two parallel units in which both units operate identically and simultaneously. In type –I system occurrence of a shock causes system stopping and consequently will be received minimal r...
